For the Love of Coverplay

Courtesy of Fightpink.org:

COVERPLAY slipcovers offer an essential solution for parents. The soiled play yard slipcover can be pulled off the play yard and thrown into the wash for a good cleansing. In a very short time, baby has a clean play yard to enjoy.  What’s also important is women who are undergoing Chemotherapy and Radiation for Breast Cancer have weakened immune systems.  It is important for these mothers to stay well during their treatments, and COVERPLAY slipcovers will help keep them and thier young children protected from germs.

Tina Koral, author of If I Just Breathe, and a Breast Cancer survivor is pregnant with her second child.  When we spoke to Tina about the COVERPLAY, she had this to offer: ”There are so many useless products created for infants and moms, so I was so excited to read about COVERPLAY. As a mom of a toddler with parents and in-laws out of state, we travel quite a bit to visit them. In addition to the stroller and car seat, we also brought along our own Pack ‘N Play to avoid borrowing one from a hotel. Who knows how many babies have used it, drooled in it, and worse. Now we can leave the heavy Pack ‘N Play at home, and simply travel with the Coverplay. What a fantastic product.”

The inventor of the COVERPLAY product is Allison Costa.  The product was developed after Costa, the mother of twin boys, grew concerned after discovering how difficult it was to clean her children’s play yard. The resulting convenient solution was COVERPLAY Slipcovers to make like easier for parents. With fellow designer and partner Amy Feldman, they created a line of play yard covers in over 20 different designs, ranging in price from $49.99 – $59.99.”

Choosy Moms Choose Coverplay!

Great article courtesy of Cool Mom Picks:

“I’m no germaphobe, but the idea of putting my bundle of joy in a hotel-supplied Pack-n-Play which may have been cleaned with industrial-strength chemical cleaners or worse, nothing at all, gives me the heebie jeebies.

Fortunately, the solution isn’t to haul your own twenty-pound play yard through an airline’s baggage check.

Instead, I’d pick up a lightweight Coverplay play yard slipcover which we discovered way back in 2007. Since then they’ve added matching sheets and loads of new styles. Another cool thing is that now more than 2500 hotels in the Marriott chain, through the Marriot Tots Travel Too program, are offering them free with their own own play yards for guests. It’s available at Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, Courtyard by Marriott and a couple others, so definitely call ahead to check with your hotel before your trip.

But I say, it’s not a bad idea to get your own Coverplay anyway. For that play yard that grandma found for a steal! and keeps in the dusty basement in anticipation of your arrival, or for those hotels that aren’t yet on board. It will definitely help you rest easier. This is, after all, vacation we’re talking about.”

Allison Costa wears many different hats: Interior decorator. Footwear designer. Fashion rebel. Freethinking businesswoman. Inventor. Globetrotter. Rock star (in the eyes of her twin boys!) They’re the reason she created Coverplay, the first line of slipcovers for portable play yards. Who better than Allison to create one of the most parent-preferred products since the invention of the boppy?

Traveling Tots

If you are planning a vacation to your favorite destination and want to have real fun and adventure, take your kids along with you. However, a number of things must be kept in mind when traveling with children. Therefore, to make sure the trip becomes pleasurable for both you and your kids, it is better to plan and prepare well in advance.

Here are five valuable tips that you should follow to make your vacation with family a memorable one.

• As kids tend to become restless during the flight, take along with you a variety of magazines, books, board games, radio, music, toys, and snacks to suit the likes and dislikes of your kid. These things will help you to keep the child happy and distracted even when confined in the airplane.
• Make sure you bring along a warm blanket and a spare set of comfortable clothes for them to ensure they are comfortable in the flight. Besides, give due importance to making good sleeping arrangements for them at the destination. Plan in advance for this in accordance with the current weather conditions of the place you are planning to go to.
• As children are more prone to accidents and small injuries, be well prepared with the first-aid kit, well equipped with tweezers, antiseptic lotion, bandages, ointments, pain relievers, cotton, gauze pads, mosquito repellants, cough drops, and a few prescription medicines for fever, throat infection, diarrhea, nausea, headache, and vomiting.
• The luggage should be packed keeping in mind all the essentials required. This would depend on the climate of the vacation destination and the number of days for which you will be gone.
• Travel games, to suit the age of your children, are a must to keep the kids happy and involved during long drives and road trips.

If you are traveling with the kids, Coverplay is great for germ-proofing hotel play yards or when borrowing gear from friends. In fact, Coverplay proudly supplies several hotel chains, including Hilton, Hyatt, Club Med, Embassy Suites, Doubletree, and more. It’s a must-have for kids on the go and perfect for daycare centers, too! And all our slipcover designs come with a matching tote so you can travel in style

Awesome Organic Baby Products for New Mums

Natural nurturing

As kids, we don’t think at all about the ‘chemicals’ that might be in the things we put in our mouths or play with. As teenagers, we certainly do care about the chemicals we put in our body … and often put them in purposefully, in the interests of experimentation! As adults we are usually quite indifferent … until our babies start arriving. These tiny little bundles are inescapably helpless, miraculously soft and mightily vulnerable, and many Mums turn to organic solutions to help assure them that they aren’t doing any harm to their children. If you know a natural nurturer, today we check out some of the best organic baby products and baby accessories to be found.

1. Organic baby products for the bath

Bath time is one of those times when you can’t really do without the help of various substances to get your bub clean. For natural-style Mums, organic baby products for the bath are a must.

2. Organic baby clothing

Mums can not only feel good about their contribution to the environment with organic fabric baby clothing, but can also stress less about itchiness that causes unfathomable crying, skin rashes and sensitization to various substances.

3. Cloth nappies

Buy organic cotton terry towelling nappies as a new-Mum baby product gift, and she’ll be saving money as well as protecting her baby’s skin and the environment.

4. Organic skincare for Mum

Becoming a mother can be so rewarding … but also terrifying, as you completely lose your sense of self, sense of beauty and ways of relating to other adults. Beauty products for Mums are a fantastic gift after the birth – organic is best, because bubs will be in close contact with Mum’s skin for substantial portions of the day while either breast or bottle feeding.

5. Organic household cleaners

I personally hate breathing in Spray and Wipe fumes … and you can imagine what they do to a tiny baby’s not-yet-developed lungs. There are plenty of organic cleaning products options available nowadays, and these baby accessories come in far more delicious flavours than ‘Commercial Lemon’!

6. Organic wipes

With a new baby, Mums spend quite a few of the day’s hours wiping various ‘things’ up! Baby wipes can’t help leaving a residue on the skin, so many Mums prefer them to be organic.

7. Organic teething toys

With the current kerfuffle over bisphenol-A, most Mums agree that organic baby accessories for teething are best. You can get all-natural rubber or leather teething baby products.

8. Organic shopping bags

Granted, you won’t be shopping for nightclub fashions, new jewellery or makeup … but you may as well look great (and be organic!) while popping out for rice cereal and juice! You’ll find Envirosax organic shopping bags designed for Mums at many good organic baby products shops … and the range of designs is irresistible.

Angelcare baby monitor movement sensor functions like any other regular baby monitor. The receiver or the parent unit has a speaker which gives out the sound your baby makes and has sound lights indicator which lights up with the sound of your baby. The more sound or the louder the infant cries, more sound lights indicator will be illuminated. But this baby sensor monitor has one added function, it has a movement sensor detector which signals an alarm should no movement is detected from the infant after 20 seconds.

With this additional function, it gives parents particularly brand new parents a complete piece of mind knowing that their infants are properly monitored. The parents can be rest assured their infants activity is effectively transmitted through the infant monitor.

With this baby monitoring system, it helps to reduce or minimise the cases of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS for short. The term is also commonly known as cot death. The sudden death of an infant is a situation whereby the infant dies whilst sleeping. Whilst the actual cause of SIDS is unknown, risks factors such as putting the babies or infants to lay on their stomachs rather than on their backs have been identified by many studies as the risk factors contributing to SIDS.

Parents especially brand new parents would be more agitated and tend to check on their new borns more frequently. With the help of baby sensor monitor such as BebeSounds Angelcare Movement Sensor, the task of monitoring their new borns are made a lot easier. The baby sensor monitor will signal an alarm to give parents advance warning should no movement is detected from the infants for 20 seconds.

The baby monitor comes with a baby sensor mat where you would place it under the baby’s mattress in the cot. Normally you would place a piece of hard board first in the cot and then the baby sensor mat is put on top of it and face up for proper monitoring. The movement or baby sensor mat is plugged into the nursery monitor using the cable provided which help to detect the movement of the baby.

If there is no movement from the infant, the sensor pad will send a signal to the transmitter or nursery unit which will trigger an alarm after 20 seconds. This is in turn will alert and warn the parents in time to see what is happening with their babies and react to the situation immediately. The early warning system will give the parents enough time to save their babies and thus minimise any instances of SIDS or cot death.

The parents too can have a good rest and piece of mind knowing that their babies are soundly monitored.
