What to look for when shopping for a baby fairy costume? When dressing your baby up in a costume, there are a few things you will want to consider versus just buying a for an older child or adult.
1) Comfort for you and your baby
There are all sorts of costumes you can buy. Some are made with your baby in mind, while others are made without much consideration for the infant that will be wearing it. On the flip side the parent will also need to be comfortable with the costume. A costume that is hard to put on, hard to take off and without snaps or a zipper for easy diaper changing is not much fun for either the baby or parent.
2) Tight costumes
Stay away from tight costumes. Babies generally do not like anything tight around their neck area. If the costume is too tight, it can make for a fussy baby and a frustrated parent.
3) Accessories and loose items
Babies love to put things in their mouths. When you buy a costume, make sure there are no loose strings, buttons, small accessories, sharp zippers or flammable material on the costume. If you do find these items return the costume. For things such as strings and loose buttons, they may be fixable with a sewing kit. Yet make sure these are fixable items and not defects in the construction of the costume.
4) Availability
We all know how hard it is to find a costume a few days before Halloween. To find the size, style, color and accessories you are looking for, shop early. By early I mean weeks ahead. Most Halloween shoppers start in August. This is when the inventory is fresh and most available. As we [...] Continue Reading…

What Thank You Baby Cards Really Say

Having a baby is a joyful time, but a stressful one, too. As a parent, wouldn’t it be great to forgo the long and tedious process of issuing thank yous and announcing the birth of your child on an individual basis? Sometimes, the baby shower itself can coincide with a premature birth, in which case it becomes understandable and acceptable for you to issue dual purpose cards that both thank the person, and announce the birth of your child. This is where thank you baby cards come in handy.
Holiday Cards
If you’re planning on thanking people after the holidays, thank you cards for the baby gifts you’ve received is seemly. Be careful, however, as etiquette is a little unclear when it comes to this situation. It behoves the parents to use common sense when it comes to issuing a thank you card and to decide for themselves whether it is even appropriate under the circumstances. Naturally, however, a handwritten touch is a must when sending out the card and in it, the feelings of joy and gratitude that the parents felt upon receiving the gift must be expressed.

Photo Cards
All parents are rightfully proud of the new addition to their family and each one is firmly convinced that their child is the epitome of baby beauty. This is why it is understandable that most parents use a photo of their newborn baby. However, this is entirely unnecessary; all that must be included is enough space to write a short message. Making it handwritten ensures that the person receiving the card will feel special and well thought of. This is especially necessary if the person in question provided a generous gift to the newborn. On occasions where the [...] Continue Reading…

I’ve hopefully given you some inspiration on options for Clothes Rails which are suitable for a children’s room in my previous article Children’s Clothes Rails, so I wanted to also go through accessories to go on the rail and other storage possibilities for a child’s bedroom. Often in a room, which is either small or an awkward space, good storage is important in order to avoid it looking like a toyshop, or to be honest, a complete mess!
So what are the options? Well firstly, the clothes rail/wardrobe itself – hanging canvas storage such as Wardrobe Hanging Organizers  are great for storing sweaters, shoes and many other clothing items or smaller items such as toys/accessories. You want something that doesn’t take up too much space and this one does just that being only 15cms wide. Small on size but it will hold several pairs of shoes, trainers and socks or just leave it to your kids’ imagination!
You can also make the most of your kids’ wardrobe hanging space with this fabulous Four Shelf Sweater Organizer, this one matching the shoe hanger and made of soft touch material in lilac with pink binding. Not only for sweaters, but can be used for toys, t-shirts, or whatever your kids wish to put in it. It measures 90cms in height, 22.5cms in width and 22.5cms in depth.
So other areas where you should make use of for storage include everybody’s favorite… under the bed! We’ll come to that, but have you considered using the door too? I have hooks on the inside of cupboard/wardrobe doors for small accessories/scarves/belts… but don’t just go with the obvious! I’ve made use a Hanging Magazine Organizer in my son’s room, which is a really useful [...] Continue Reading…

About Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
All of those pretty blankets, comforters and frilly pillows can put your baby at risk and should never be allowed in a crib. As many as one third of the baby deaths that are attributed to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) are actually caused by suffocation in all of the soft bedding and accessories in a crib.
Keep An Eye Out For These PointsTo make your baby’s crib into a safer place by performing a simple crib makeover. Remove all of the frilly loose bedclothes and use an infant sleeping sack. This wearable blanket doesn’t bunch up around the baby’s nose or cover the head, thus eliminating suffocation risk. The sack like design of a sleep sack includes a sleeveless sleeping sack that keeps fabric away from the baby’s head and face. Another feature of the sleep sack is that it is easy to slip on over top of regular pajamas and makes it difficult for babies to roll over, forcing them to sleep on their back. Sleep sacks are made of cotton interlock fabric and super soft fleece of the highest quality.A dangerous trend is that many cribs are designed to look just like small adult beds. It is recommended that babies are only placed to sleep on a firm mattress in a safety approved crib or bassinet without loose bedding items including blankets and pillows. The recommended position for infants to sleep is on their backs.Get inspired by creating a safe environment for your baby to sleep. By being creative you will be able to create a beautiful nursery that is not only attractive but safe and cozy for your baby.Removing all loose bedding, blankets, stuffed toys and frilly decorations from [...] Continue Reading…
