Your baby is screaming his head off, face screwed up and red, legs tucked into his tummy, tiny fists flailing . . . and you feel helpless. Every parent who faces this scene wants to know how to get rid of baby gas and fast. As adults, we know that gas can hurt. Now imagine with baby gas, the baby is incapable of getting it out. That means it can really hurt and it goes on for a long time. The poor little one has no way of making his or her needs known, so screaming is the only way to manage.Fortunately, you don’t have to stand idly by. It’s very possible to get rid of baby gas fairly quickly if you’re prepared. It is easier to prevent it though, so that should be the first priority. When feeding your baby, be sure to burp frequently to get all the gas out before it starts to cause problems. If you bottlefeed, stick to bottles designed to eliminate air that the baby could suck down. This is the start of problems with the belly and unless you are able to get that air out, your baby could be in a lot of pain later. Of course, a colic-free bottle will help with this. Breastfeeding is already air-free, but a baby may still suck in air. To actually get rid of gas after the fact, you’ll need to help your baby get things moving. Try laying him on his back and gently move his legs in a circle, like he’s pedaling a bike. This will help encourage the gas to exit and he will find some relief.Another option is gripe water, which can be a miracle cure [...] Continue Reading…
